For teachers and schools in Denmark

Less fuss.
More teaching.

Lerlo gathers the small, recurring chores of a teacher's week – seating plans, activities in class, pupils and school years – in one calm tool. Built in Denmark, with data protection designed in from the first line of code.

What Lerlo does

Four things you do every week. Now without paper, spreadsheets and loose slips.

Each part is built around how a Danish school is actually organised: classes per school year, teams and electives on top of the class, a class teacher and subject teachers, and pupils who move up in August.

Seating plans

Drag the desks into place. The rules keep watch.

Draw the room with desks, board and teacher's desk, or start from rows, groups of four or a horseshoe. Seat the pupils with a finger, or let Lerlo place them.

  • Placement rules that follow the class: not next to, together with, at the front, near the teacher.
  • A broken rule is marked at once – you decide whether it has to be kept.
  • Earlier plans are kept, so you can see who sat where in October.
  • Print it, or download it as PDF and PNG, ready to put up on the wall.
Activities in class

The board shows. The phones answer. Nobody creates an account.

Start an activity from the lesson. The pupils type a code or scan a QR code, pick their own name from the class and are in. The answers come in live.

  • Quizzes with points for quick, right answers and a podium at the end.
  • Word clouds, where the class's answers grow on the board.
  • More on the way: exit tickets, quick polls, group makers and bingo.
  • Results stay on the lesson – and follow the pupil to next year's teacher in the same subject.
Classes and pupils

Your classes on the front page. Every pupil on a page of their own.

You see the classes you teach – with the class photo, who the class teacher is, and what you yourself have there. A pupil opens with results in your subjects and your own notes.

  • Notes as a log with date and time. Only you and the school's administrators see them.
  • Teaching in a calendar: lessons and projects with notes, pictures and files.
  • Teams, electives and special classes on top of the class – with the grades they are for.
School years

In August everyone moves up. The history stays where it belongs.

5.A becomes 6.A, grade 9 finishes, a new 0.A arrives. Lerlo proposes all of it, you adjust, and the change happens when you are ready. Last year's teaching, seating plans and results still stand under 5.A.

  • Prepare next year as a draft that only administrators see.
  • Pupils who repeat a year, skip one or leave the school are corrected pupil by pupil.
  • Pupils who left are kept for as long as the school itself decides, and then deleted by themselves.
Getting started

From the first email to a school up and running, in a week.

There is no self-service, and that is deliberate. A school is a school, not an account with a credit card.

    We set up the school

The school's name, time zone, grades and the first administrator. The data processing agreement belongs here too.

The classes come from a file

Export the pupils from your pupil administration system and drag the file in. Lerlo reads it in the browser, guesses the columns and shows everything before anything is saved.

For leadership and IT

Children's data. We take it literally.

Lerlo holds names, dates of birth, pictures and results about children. So protection is not an add-on but the way the system is built.

Hosting and data in the EU

Servers and files at Hetzner in Germany. Emails are sent from the EU. No data leaves Europe.

Encrypted, field by field

Pupils' names, dates of birth, notes and answers are encrypted before they reach the database. Files are encrypted before they are stored.

No third parties

No scripts, fonts or pictures are fetched from anyone else. Visits to these pages are counted without cookies.

Access follows roles

Teachers see their own classes, and results in the subjects they teach – the school's administrators too. Nobody sees another school.

Logged and exportable

Every change to the school's data is in the log. Everything about a pupil, a class or the school can be downloaded as one export.

Deleted when it should be

The school chooses how long pupils who left are kept. After that they are deleted, with everything that belongs to them.

Read the full security description – it is written for your IT contact.

Questions we get

Do pupils need an account?

No. Pupils exist in Lerlo as names in a class – with no login and no email address. When they take part in an activity, they type the class's code on their phone and pick their own name. The phone remembers only a random number, for a few hours.

Who can see what?

A teacher sees the classes they have been put on, and results in the subjects they teach. Notes about a pupil are seen only by the teacher who wrote them and the school's administrators. Administrators see the whole school. Nobody sees another school.

What happens to last year's classes?

They stay as they were, under the old school year: teaching, seating plans and results can be seen but not changed. The teachers who taught the class can still open it.

Where is the data?

In the EU. The servers and the encrypted files are at Hetzner in Falkenstein, Germany. Emails are sent through a provider in France. The list of sub-processors is on the security page and in the data processing agreement.

Can we get our data out again?

Yes, at any time. An administrator can download everything about a pupil, a class, a member of staff or the whole school as a ZIP with readable and machine-readable files. If you stop using Lerlo, the school is deleted with everything that belongs to it.

Want to see Lerlo with your own classes?

We set the school up, show your teachers around and answer the IT questions. No sales pitch, just the product.
